HOURS Kennywood’s gates open at 10:30AM unless otherwise noted on the calendar. Rides, attractions and refreshment stands begin to open progressively starting at 11:00AM.
Kennywood is usually open until about 10PM, but could close earlier or later depending on crowd size and weather conditions. The park closing time is determined each afternoon (unless specifically noted on the calendar) and announced in the early evening hours. Each evening, some rides and attractions begin to close progressively earlier than the determined closing time, including water rides and Kiddieland.
LIMITED OPERATION (August 31 - September 15) "Limited Operation" means that Kennywood is setting up for Phantom Fright Nights and the following rides/attractions are closed but will return next Summer: Raging Rapids and the Arcade (last day for each is Sunday, August 25). The Whip and Garfield's Nightmare are closed September 14 & 15 (Last day for each is Sunday, September 8). The Park may close as early as 9PM on Sundays during this period as schools are back in session the next day.

ATTENTION: SQUIRREL HILL TUNNEL OUTBOUND CLOSURE WEEKENDS OF MAY 11 & 12 AND MAY 18 & 19--ALTERNATIVE ROUTES
We suggest these alternative routes for Guests coming from the downtown Pittsburgh/579/279 or North Side areas who would normally take I-376 outbound to Squirrel Hill/Homestead OR Edgewood/Swissvale exits:
- Cross the Mon River downtown via Smithfield Street Bridge and turn left onto Carson St (837 heading south). Kennywood is on 837 approx 14 miles.
- Take your best route to PA Turnpike (ie. Rt 28 from the city) and exit at MONROEVILLE/PITTSBURGH, take business 22 to Rt. 48 south and turn left onto 48 south.Travel about 5 miles and turn right onto US Rt 30 for about 2 miles. Turn left at Rt 148 (Get Go on left) and follow 148 2.7 miles and take exit to DUQUESNE. Cross the bridge and turn right onto 837 NORTH. (When you cross the bridge you will automatically be on 837 heading north). No need to exit. Kennywood is 5 miles north on 837. From the downtown area, this route is out of the way but should avoid all the traffic delays caused by Squirrel Hill tunnel closure.
- We recommend avoiding I-376 outbound from the downtown area. Homestead/Squirrel Hill exit can be used but will likely be heavily congested. If you go this way, head towards Homestead from the exit, cross the Mon River and turn left onto 837 at the far end of the bridge. Kennywood is four miles south on 837.
ATTENTION BUS AND HEAVY TRUCK DRIVERS: Due to weight restriction on Braddock Avenue bridge, all buses and heavy trucks coming to Kennywood should exit I-376 at Squirrel Hill/Homestead exit, follow signs toward Homestead, cross the Homestead Grays (Hi-level) Bridge and turn left onto Rt 837. Kennywood is 4 miles south on 837.

FROM CLEVELAND/YOUNGSTOWN/OHIO-NORTH
I-80 East to PA Turnpike (I-76) to I-79 South, to I-279 South, to I-579 towards Pittsburgh, to I-376 East toward Monroeville, get off Exit #77 Edgewood-Swissvale, follow the Kennywood arrows to the Park OR PA Turnpike to Exit 57. Take I-376 West toward Pittsburgh exiting at Edgewood-Swissvale Exit #77. Turn left at exit ramp and follow Kennywood arrows to Park (approx 5 miles).
OR (TO AVOID DELAYS COMING FROM EXIT #77 EDGEWOOD-SWISSVALE)
Follow the PA Turnpike to exit 57, then Business 22 toward Monroeville. Immediately take Rt. 48 South (left turn from the turnpike off ramp) approx. 5 miles to Rt. 30. Turn right onto Rt. 30 and travel west 1.9 miles to the fifth stop light at Rt. 148 South. Turn left onto Rt. 148 (at the Get-Go) and stay on 148 south 2.7 miles until you see the sign for Duquesne (just past the fifth light and on the right). Take the Duquesne exit and cross the bridge, which will automatically feed north on Rt. 837 toward Kennywood. Travel approximately 4 miles on 837 and turn left at McDonalds to enter the parking lot. Note: the park is on the right; the parking lot on the left.
FROM ALTOONA
From Rt. 220 West, to Rt. 22 West, to I-376 West, get off exit # 77 Swissvale follow the Kennywood arrows to the Park.
FROM AMBRIDGE
Rt. 65 South to I-79 South to I-376 towards Pittsburgh. Go through the Fort Pitt Tunnels, stay in right lane, take I-376 East toward Monroeville, get off Exit #74 Homestead-Squirrel Hill and head towards Homestead. Cross the bridge and turn left at the far end of the bridge. You will be on 837 headed south. Kennywood will be 5 miles south on 837. The Kennywood parking lot will be on the right.
FROM APOLLO/VANDERGRIFT
Rt. 66, to Rt. 22 West, to I 376 West, get off at Exit #77 Edgewood-Swissvale, follow the Kennywood arrows to the Park.
FROM ALIQUIPPA/BEAVER FALLS/BEAVER COUNTY
Rt. 60 to I-376 and take I-376 toward Pittsburgh. Go through the Fort Pitt Tunnels, stay in right lane, go I-376 East toward Monroeville, get off Exit #74 Homestead-Squirrel Hill and head towards Homestead. Cross the bridge and turn left at the far end of the bridge. You will be on 837 headed south. Kennywood will be 5 miles south on 837. The Kennywood parking lot will be on the right.
FROM BUTLER-NORTH
Rt. 8 South, cross the 62nd Street Bridge, continue to follow Rt 8 South and pick up Washington Blvd just past the Highland Park Bridge (don't cross the Highland Park Bridge). Follow Washington Blvd about 2 miles until it changes to Fifth Ave @ Frankstown Road (don't exit but stay on Fifth and make a left turn onto Penn Ave (which is still Rt 8). At South Braddock, make a right onto S. Braddock Ave., go under I 376 (about a mile), following S. Braddock all the way until it ends at the far side of the Rankin Bridge. Make a left onto Rt 837 South. Kennywood is 1.6 miles ahead with parking lot on the right.
FROM MORGANTOWN/FAIRMONT/WEST VIRGINIA
I-79 North towards Pittsburgh to I-376 toward Pittsburgh, go through the Fort Pitt tunnels, stay in the right lane, go I-376 East toward Monroeville, get off exit #74 Homestead-Squirrel Hill and head towards Homestead. Cross the bridge and turn left at the far end of the bridge. You will be on 837 headed south. Kennywood will be 5 miles south on 837. The Kennywood parking lot will be on the right.
FROM MARYLAND
Rt. 40 North, to Rt. 51 North, get on Lebanon Church Road, follow the Kennywood arrows to the Park, OR Rt. 40 to Rt. 51 North, cross the Elizabeth bridge and make an immediate right onto Rt. 837 North. Follow Rt. 837 North to the Park.
FROM ROCHESTER
Ohio River Blvd., to Rt. 65, to I-79 South, to I-376 towards Pittsburgh, go through the Fort Pitt tunnels, stay in the right lane, take I 376 East toward Monroeville, get off Exit #74 Homestead-Squirrel Hill and head towards Homestead. Cross the bridge and turn left at the far end of the bridge. You will be on 837 headed south. Kennywood will be 5 miles south on 837. The Kennywood parking lot will be on the right.
FROM NORTH HILLS
Cross the Highland Park bridge, pick up Washington Blvd., make a left onto Penn Ave., make a right onto Braddock Ave., go under I-376, follow the Kennywood arrows to the Park OR I-79 South, to I-279 South, to I-579 towards Pittsburgh, to I-376 East toward Monroeville, get off Exit #74 Homestead-Squirrel Hill and head towards Homestead. FROM NEW CASTLE
Take Rt. 422 East, to I-79 South, to I-279 South, to I-579 towards Pittsburgh, to I-376 East toward Monroeville, get off Exit #74 Homestead-Squirrel Hill and head towards Homestead. Cross the bridge and turn left at the far end of the bridge. You will be on 837 headed south. Kennywood will be 5 miles south on 837. The Kennywood parking lot will be on the right.
FROM NEW KENSINGTON
Rt. 28, cross the Highland Park bridge, pick up Washington Blvd., make a left onto Penn Ave., make a right onto S. Braddock Ave., go under I-376, follow S. Braddock Ave all the way until it ends on the far side of the Rankin Bridge. Turn left. Kennywood parking lot is 1.6 miles on the right on 837 South.
FROM PHILADELPHIA
Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-76) West, get off exit # 57 Pittsburgh/Monroeville exit, pick up I-376 West toward Pittsburgh, get off Exit #77 Edgewood-Swissvale, turn left onto S.Braddock Ave. Follow S. Braddock all the way until it ends at the far side of the Rankin Bridge (about 3 miles). Turn left. The Kennywood Parking lot is 1.6 miles south on Rt. 837 on the right side of the road.
FROM STEUBENVILLE
Rt. 22 East, to I-376 East toward Pittsburgh go through the Fort Pitt tunnels, stay in right lane, to I-376 East toward Monroeville, get off Exit #74 Homestead-Squirrel Hill and head towards Homestead. Cross the bridge and turn left at the far end of the bridge. You will be on 837 headed south. Kennywood will be 5 miles south on 837. The Kennywood parking lot will be on the right.
FROM WHEELING
Take I-70 East to I-79 North (near Washington, PA) to I-376 toward Pittsburgh, go through the Fort Pitt tunnels, stay in right lane, to I-376 East toward Monroeville, get off Exit #74 Homestead-Squirrel Hill and head towards Homestead. Cross the bridge and turn left at the far end of the bridge. You will be on 837 headed south. Kennywood will be 5 miles south on 837. The Kennywood parking lot will be on the right.
FROM I 76 PENNSYLVANIA TURNPIKE
Get off exit # 57 Pittsburgh/Monroeville, to I-376 West toward Pittsburgh, get off Exit #77 Edgewood-Swissvale. Turn left at bottom of exit ramp and follow S. Braddock Ave about 3 miles until it ends at the far side of the Rankin Bridge. Turn left onto 837 South. Kennywood will be 1.6 miles with the parking lot on the right.
FROM WESTMORELAND COUNTY ALONG RT 30
Travel West on Rt. 30 from Westmoreland Co. to the stoplight at Rt. 30 & 148 (East McKeesport/North Versailles area). There is a Get-Go on the left at this intersection. Turn left onto Rt. 148 and stay on 148 south 2.7 miles until you see the sign for Duquesne (just past the fifth light and on the right). Take the Duquesne exit and cross the bridge, which will automatically feed north on Rt. 837 toward Kennywood. Travel approximately 4 miles on 837 and turn left at McDonalds to enter the parking lot. Note: the park is on the right; the parking lot on the left.
